November 19th, Principality of Monaco National Day.

 Breaking with the tradition which wanted that the Principality of Monaco National Day, lived by the local population as the " Holiday of the Prince ", was celebrated the day of patron saint of the sovereign prince, Prince Albert II preserved the date of November 19th as a tribute to his father, Prince Rainier III

Celebrating the oldest ruling dynasty of the world, the Grimaldi family, masters of the rock since 1297, ceremonies begin with a solemn mass in the cathedral of Monaco, followed by a decorations ceremony in the main courtyard of the Palace and by a review of the troops, allowing the persons from Monaco to celebrate their identity and to testify of their loyalty to the Prince.

At the close of this day, the most important of the year for the Monegasques, the very exclusive representation of the opera " Nabucco " of Giuseppe Verdi in the " Salle des Princes " of the Grimaldi Forum of Monaco, only by invitation of the Palace.

The opportunity to meet the immense baritone Leo Nucci in the title role of Nabucco, King of Babylon, staged by Leo Muscato and directed by Giuseppe Finzi, with a choir at its best, magnificent orchestra and decors and admirable lights.
